Аннотация

The paper analysis paremiological units used in the book ?Poor Richard?s Almanac? by Benjamin Franklin. At the beginning of the research a hypothesis about a possible link between formal and semantic characteristics of the proverbs under analysis is put forward. The research conducted utilizing structural grammatical, semantic and semiotic methods proved that formal characteristics of paremilogical units have some influence on their semantics. But this connection does not touch upon the semantic content, the topic of the proverbs.
