The work reported in this paper includes data set, provided by Al-Furat petroleum company (Damascus, Syria). Sample coverage extended over the whole area of the Euphrates Graben. In order to map out the depositional models and facies distribution across the whole Graben area, a systematic sedimentological core analysis of MUF reservoir intervals had been described using a standard and uniform facies scheme. In addition a total of 55 samples were examined with Scanning electron microscope SEM, X-ray diffraction (XRD), following to this, the core description used with all the other available and collected data as a guide to generate standard facies catalog and build a facies depositional models for each MUF formation subdivisions. |

The Upper Triassic Sandstone reservoir "Mulussa F formation" (MUF) hold about 50 % of the hydrocarbon volumes within Euphrates Graben. The petrological investigations with core description of various sediments formation, with geophysical analyses of well logs have been integrated to generate a conceptual depositional model, and set a standardized facies classifications across the whole Graben area. The study showed that the sediments are composed of detrital components as sedimentary 3 members from bottom to up; MUF3, MUF2 and MUF1, forming repeated or harmonic alternations composed of layers which their facies gradients reflect transgression and regression sequences, where the correlation of these sediments led to show their differences and to deduce the distribution patterns with time and place. The main abundant facies associations identified in MUF are paleosoles, braided channels, low sinuous channels, crevasse splay, channel abandonment, flood plain shale and over bank deposits. |
