Аннотация Oily wastes are considered to be one of the most serious environmental problems. Development of an effective and environmentally friendly strategy of oily wastes remediation still remains a challenge. Usage of composts from organic wastes for oily wastes remediation may be one of the effective strategies desired. In this study, we estimated the changes of bacterial community composition in the process of bioremediation of the oily sludge containing 125 g kg(-1) total petroleum hydrocarbons by means of compost prepared from municipal organic wastes (organic fraction of municipal solid waste, wastewater sludge and sawdust polluted by oil, 1:3:1). Oily sludge and compost were mixed in a ratio 1:2. During 120 days of remediation in. lab conditions, total petroleum hydrocarbons content decreased from 40 to 19 g kg(-1\). Since bacteria are reported to be a driven force of petroleum decomposition, we estimated the structure of bacterial community in the beginning (1st day), middle (42nd d
