Аннотация |
The article deals with the study of the role of English as a global language in intercultural communication. The problem of interconnection between language and intercultural relations has been widely discussed by modern researchersworldwide and in Russia. This article aims at studying the relationships between culture and language, examining the reasons for English dominance in the world, defining modern state of English spread in the world, defining future perspectives of the role of English in intercultural communication as a global language. The work was conducted on the basis ofthe study and generalization of modern research works on the related topics, comparison of the most recent and full statistical data. As a result, it was observed that despite the fact that English is not in the first place by the amount of native speakers in the world, it is by far the most learnt foreign language in the world. This fact is due to linguistic and extra-linguistic factors. As far as future global perspectives are concerned, English is likely to stay a global language in the nearest future but it will probably acquire new forms and experience many changes in its syntactic, grammatical structures, and on semantic level. The results of the study clearly show that the use of English helps to achieve better intercultural understanding, to make intercultural relations clear, productive, and time-saving.The work contributes to the development of the essence of the concept of international language in its relation to culture, the formulation of factors for a particular language to acquire a global status, the development of a notion ofa lingua franca, promotion of intercultural understanding. |
