Аннотация

The authors of the article investigated the specifics of popularization of scientific achievements in the mass media of the Republic of Tatarstan. Using methods of continuous monitoring of printed and online publications for the presence of media texts in different genres about science, as well as problem-thematic, lexical-stylistic and comparative analysis of sources, we analyzed 287 media texts in Russian of six popular socio-political mass media among the audience of the specified Russian region for the period from 01.01.2022 to 01.03.2023, our research allowed us to understand the following. Firstly, scientific popularization was carried out only through the informational genres of journalism (sometimes a mini-report). Secondly, there was a lot of rewriting in the articles studied, the authors of publications rarely turned to experts. Thirdly, in the media, many of the publications about science studied by the authors of the article had a neutral character, with the exception of those whose heroes were representatives of the authorities: such media texts had a positive journalistic assessment, which did not correspond to the norm of objectivity. We believe that the coverage of the topic of science in the mass media of the Republic of Tatarstan is primarily one of the ways to form a positive public opinion about the activities of government representatives at various levels and only after that is a means of popularizing education and science among the population of the Republic of Tatarstan.
