Аннотация Electrochemical methods are a promising tool for the analysis of organic compounds of various nature and action including biomarkers, pollutants, antioxidants, natural and synthetic dyes, pharmaceuticals, etc. In this chapter, the general approaches to the electrochemical determination of organic compounds according to detection principles are discussed. Analytical capabilities of potentiometry with ion-selective membrane electrodes based on the exchange reactions are presented. The possibility to measure total contents of structurally related compounds in the case of multi-component samples using potentiometry is emphasized. Voltammetry based on the direct redox-reactions of organic analytes is described. The attention is focused on the application of chemically modified electrodes and their practical capabilities. Carbon nanomaterials, metal and metal oxide nanostructures, different types of polymers including molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP), as well as various nanocomposites and combination of nanomaterials are discussed. The advantages and limitations of each type of electrodes are summarized. Finally, the directions of further development in the electroanalysis of organic compounds are suggested.
