    Annotation Vacuum polarization of a scalar field on the short throat wormhole background is investigated. The scalar field is assumed to be massless, having an arbitrary coupling to the scalar curvature of spacetime. In addition, it is supposed that the field is in a thermal state with an \mbox{arbitrary temperature.
