    Аннотация Azobenzene-functionalized polymers have attracted much attention due to their facile ability to be transformed with both electrical and optical fields. A control of the polarization of near-field light allows one to selectively probe different vibrational symmetries and molecular orientation of highly anisotropic molecules. Here, we introduce a novel quantitative indicator – voltage-dependent near-field Raman dichroism – for recognizing the binary (planar or homeotropic) states of polar azo-chromophores with longitudinal and transverse non-resonant optical near-fields. The planar and homeotropic alignment of the polar azos can be induced with the longitudinal resonant near-field and a local dc electric field applied along the z-direction, respectively. Alternatively, the orientation polarization is monitored by measuring a local permittivity of azo-polymer thin films.
