    Аннотация Abstract In article features of child education in the Russian and Tatar families in the conditions of the Russian provincial towns of the second half of XIX – the beginning of the 20th century are unveiled. The educational methods directed to the solution of two main education objectives of the studied period– preparing younger generation for life and preservation of ethnic and social identification are analyzed. In article specifics of parental choices in educational process are considered, the status of the child in a family is defined. The author makes an attempt to research transition from traditional approach to education and child education in a family to new European model of educational influence. It is shown as under the influence of the modernization processes taking place in the Russian cities during the studied period educational space of a family change, new requirements of house education are formed, familiarizing with the European educational practices is made.
