Аннотация The article examines the problem of the Tatars Islamic identity type in the modern Tatarstan religious discourse. The purpose of this article is to analyze the narratives of two authors belonging to different ideological groups of Muslims and investigate the different essence of their views in the field of religious outlook. The leading method of the research is based on detailed interviews, and the analysis of religious literature, which allowed studying the content of modern religious debates. The results of the research testify that the distinctions of the views of two religious authorities – Idris Galyautdin and Halim Shamsutdinov are minimal, they concern the dogmatic questions connected with the location of God – Allah. The materials of the article can be addressed to the employees of the ministries and departments connected with the work of the Islamic religious organizations and for those who are interested in modern processes in Islam.
