At the present time the need to learn a foreign language is not in doubt as foreign language learning (FLL) can significantly expand cognitive abilities like memory, perception, thinking and personal enrichment, similarly, it contributes to promotion in career, advancement of communication skills and travelling opportunities, just to name a few. The main issue today concerns the organization of teaching and learning that can ensure a higher level of language acquisition. In this respect there comes up a question: how to organize this process to make it faster, productive and more efficient. Recently foreign language online courses (FLOCs) have become increasingly popular. The reason is their availability and convenience for learners of all ages, education and employment. In addition, the World Wide Web has become actively involved in the dissemination of foreign languages around the world – now even the most inexperienced user can easily find a convenient resource for learning a new foreign language online. However, like any formats of learning it has strengths and weaknesses. As English is widely promoted on social networks, all sorts of groups are massively being created striking the potential users with countless methodological programs. Besides, the Internet offers a huge selection of various textbooks, multimedia and other technical means, both paid and free. There is no doubt that in this connection a person is lost when choosing a program, method or resource of learning. The objective of the presented research study is to assess the relevance of introducing online foreign language courses for adult learners. For this study, we used modern marketing methods such as SWOT analysis and the Hofstede model for the study of cultures. The results demonstrate intricacies of the Russian culture for online learning including foreign languages. The practical significance of the study is to provide the results of research on the introduction of modern techniques in traditional education. |
