    Аннотация The article is devoted to the study of the essential characteristics of the concept of “research thinking” and the chronology of its development. It substantiates the relevance of the topic under study, related to the widespread search for new opportunities to increase the effectiveness of the teacher's professional activity and the special significance of his research thinking in solving this problem, as well as an insufficient degree of knowledge of the concept under consideration. The authors considered the views of foreign and domestic (Russian) scientists involved in the study of the essence of this concept, highlighted the main features of research thinking, specific differences in approaches to the consideration of its content, and the author's definition of the concept under consideration is given.
