dc.description.abstract	The article discusses the features of the methodology of teaching theoretical grammar of the Russian language in a foreign audience. Despite the fact that, as part of the study of the practical grammar of the Russian language, students should acquire a clear idea of the grammatical system of the Russian language, we often encounter a lack of ability to analyze language phenomena, and a lack of clear criteria for their classification. The course ?Theoretical Grammar? should be built as a generalization of knowledge gained in practice, however, in reality, one has to face the presence of gaps in the knowledge of foreign students about the Russian language associated with the insufficient formation of the skill of analytical activity. In this article, we consider the difficulties of teaching the course "Theoretical Grammar" in that part that is related to issues of morphology. When constructing the course, we pay the main attention to the formation of students' skills of applying the acqu	ru_RU
