The report discusses the stochastic properties of quantum mechanical systems in a rather abstract form. If $a$ is a event , then $a$ occurs or does not occur depending upon the state of the system. Since in quantum mechanics, one can only predict the probability that an event will occur, a state $s$ can be thought of as a function from the set of events to the unit interval $[0, 1]$, and $s(a)$ is interpreted as the probability that event $a$ occurs when the system is in the state $s$.
Such systems (structures) are found in probability theory, the theory of operator algebras, and the theory of topological vector spaces. Ultraproducts of the sequences of these structures are also considered. |
