This paper focuses on the notion of morality from the point of view of Indian and Russian thinkers and philosophers. The study provides some examples of moral virtues that are essential for Indian people from the ancient times and that are relevant until now. Indian philosophers, thinkers and scholars consider morality as an essential sign of a law-abiding person, and moral virtues have always been an important condition for spiritual self-development and self-perfection. Further the role of good and evil in our life is pointed out and opinions of Indian and Russian thinkers and modern scholars on this point are presented. The problem of morality arises in the connection with an ideological crisis that Russian educationalists face with. Therefore the experience of other countries, namely India could have a positive impact on the decision of this problem. In conclusion the issue of morality is one of the urgent problems both in Indian and Russian systems of education. |
