Annotation Species of the genus Fusarium are part of the few universally significant groups of fungi on this planet. Members of this group are widely characterized by their pathological, agricultural, pharmaceutical and other scientific importance. As a widely distributed organism with excellent biodegrading capabilities, they have been isolated from a broad spectrum of sources such as soils, agriculturally important crops, hospital environment, sludge, Egyptian mummies, plastic materials, rivers and even sea water. There is no doubt about the ecological importance of members of this genus, due to their irreplaceable roles in biospheric cycles of nitrogen and carbon. Since these molds are inseparable from the biosphere, their general properties present an increasing interest in various fields of biology. This article presents an update on information current knowledge about members of the genus Fusarium.
