    Annotation Abstract. The article discusses the lexical features of the creative work of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, an outstanding Persian linguist, thinker and Islamic philosopher of the Indian peninsula of the first half of the twentieth century. In this article the place and role of Arabic vocabulary in Persian poetry is defined in the aspect of its dependence on the thematic content of verses - religious and lyrical. It should be noted that religious terminology in Iqbal's work has a special place. Iqbal for expressing his own thought, widely used both Arabic borrowings, and their Persian synonyms. The article considers the most important features of the use of religious terminology without indicating their linguistic group. Religious vocabulary takes a special place in the vocabulary of Persian poetry of Muhammad Iqbal.
