Annotation

Abstract. The article describes the results of onomasiological analysis of modern English vocabulary used to nominate sportsmen with physical disabilities. The compiled corpus of Paralympic lexical units has been divided into six onomasiological groups. The group “Paralympic Attributes” prevails in volume proving that the hidden side of the Paralympic games is as crucial as the external one. The obtained data demonstrate substantial expansion of the Paralympic discourse and its development due to the influence of extralinguistic factors, such as the activity of the International Paralympic Committee.
