    Annotation The article studies the questions of linguistic influence in media discourse. Humor of the speaker's speech improves the influence of the basic communicative functions (coming into contact, influence, attitude transmission, etc). Using this function humor mobilizes resources of the personality being it a speaker or a listener. Humor is an effective method of influence in mass media as it helps to create emotional and positive connection. The subject of the study is language means used by the leading TV shows hosts of the Soviet and post Soviet time namely Alexander Ivanov (“Vokrug smeha” – All around laughing matters) and Dmitry Nagiev (“Okna” – “Windows”). Certain conclusions about the usage of speech tactic in Russian media discourse have been made.
