Annotation Target amino phospha betaines 3a-3e obtained by quaternization reaction between potassium salt of amino phosphonate and long-chain alkyl bromides. The structure of the compounds was investigated by IR- and NMR-spectroscopy. The structure of isopropyl [(N-dodecyl-N,N-dimethylammonio)methyl]phosphonate was also confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction study. All synthesized compound demonstrate a high antibacterial and antifungal activity against Gram-positive bacterial strains and exhibit antifungal activity against Candida albicans.
Keywords betaines, organophosphorus compounds, quaternary ammonium salts, amino phosphonates, antimicrobial activity, X-ray diffraction
