Annotation

This paper analyses Japanese proverbs by means of synecdoche. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship of figurative meanings of Japanese proverbs through the reception of synecdoche. The research revealed that synecdoche can be used to analyse the relationship between direct and figurative meanings of Japanese proverbs.
