Annotation In this work, we provide experimental values of phase transition thermodynamic parameters of two structurally similar drugs, pyridine-4-carbohydrazide (isoniazid) and N'-propan-2-ylpyridine-4-carbohydrazide (iproniazid), in a wide temperature range. Saturated vapor pressures above crystalline phases and sublimation enthalpies were measured using the thermogravimetry-fast scanning calorimetry (TG-FSC). The thermodynamics of fusion between 298.15 K and the melting point Tm was studied by a combination of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and solution calorimetry techniques. Heat capacities used for temperature corrections were determined as follows: the values for polymorphic form I of isoniazid and form II of iproniazid were measured by differential scanning calorimetry; supercooled liquid phase heat capacities were obtained using fast scanning calorimetry (FSC); and ideal gas phase heat capacities were calculated using quantum chemistry and statistical thermodynamics. Based on sublimation and melting data, thermodynamic parameters of vaporization were derived. The similarities and differences in phase transition thermodynamic properties of two drugs were discussed applying additivity-based approaches.
