Behavioral response of daphnia magna (Crustacea, Cladocera) to low concentration of microcystin // International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference Surveying Geology and Mining Ecology Management, SGEM. - 2014. - Vol. 2 (5). - P. 85-92.
Annotation Human health risk assessment related to water quality and microcystins contamination in aquatic environment of the Kuibyshev Reservoir were investigated in August 2012. The harmful algal bloom is typical for the reservoir in this time of year. The risk was estimated for potential exposure to extracellular microcystins due to recreational activity. An indirect competitive ELISA was used for microcystins detection. A quantitative analysis showed the microcystins concentrations of water samples ranged from 0.21 to 26.96 μg L−1 among the 19 sampling sites. Corresponding risk reached a dangerous level even at 1 hour exposition. The results of this study may be useful for advanced environmental monitoring of water quality to ensure recreation water safety and reduce the potential hazard to public health.
