We have proposed and demonstrated that the presence and stability of the atherosclerotic plaque is tightly connected with the presence and size of the HAp component in the organomineralic matrix of aorta deposits. It forced us to investigate synthetic micro- and nano-HAp samples by the advanced electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) methods such as high-frequency, electron-nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) techniques and their pulsed variations to compare the obtained results with the model systems and to determine the potentials and boundaries of the modern commercially available EPR techniques for characterization of nanosystems. |
